Long-Term Fixed Rate Electric Plans in Texas

A long-term fixed plan holds your energy rate for two years or more. It suits a household that is not moving and would rather not think about electricity again for a while — and it removes the single most common way people overpay, which is letting a contract expire without noticing.

It is also a genuine bet. Locking a rate for three years is good if wholesale prices rise and expensive if they fall, and nobody can tell you which will happen. Any site that claims to know is guessing at your expense.

The two documents that matter more on a long contract than a short one are the early termination fee and the relocation clause in the terms of service. Three years is long enough that life intervenes, and most retailers treat a genuine move differently from a cancellation — but the only way to find out how is to read it before signing.

Costs shown here are for the first year, on the same basis as every other term on this site, so a three-year plan and a one-year plan can be compared like for like.
