12-Month Fixed Rate Electric Plans in Texas
A 12-month contract fixes your energy rate for a year and then ends. It is the shortest term most retailers offer at a competitive price, and it is the one that lets you re-shop soonest — which matters, because the rate you are moved to when a contract expires is usually much higher than the one you signed.
The trade is that you shop again in a year. If wholesale prices are high when you sign, a 12-month term limits how long you are committed to them; if they are low, a longer term locks the low price in. Nobody can tell you which of those is happening, and any site that claims to is guessing.
Every plan below is a fixed rate for the full term, with no bill credits and no time-of-use pricing, ranked by what twelve months actually costs rather than by the advertised cents-per-kWh figure.
