Corpus Christi is AEP Texas Central territory. Retailers choose which delivery territories to sell in and price each one separately, so an offer you saw quoted for Houston or Dallas may not exist here, and the delivery portion of the bill is different.

If you are moving from elsewhere in Texas, this is the part most likely to surprise you: your old retailer may serve this area, or may not, and the plan you had may not transfer at the same price.

Coastal humidity makes the cooling season here among the longest in the state, running well into autumn. Winter heating demand is comparatively small, so annual usage is dominated by summer and shoulder months rather than split between two peaks.

That shape favours comparing on the projected annual cost rather than on a rate quoted at one usage level, and it usually means the 2,000 kWh benchmark is the realistic one for a house.

Inside the city, starting service at an existing meter is administrative and can be scheduled a few days ahead. Further out, much of the surrounding countryside is served by electric cooperatives whose members do not shop for a provider — a ZIP check tells you which situation your new address is in.

Coastal weather also makes outage response a live consideration. That is your delivery utility's responsibility rather than your retailer's, and it does not change when you switch.

A plan that served you well in Houston or San Antonio does not necessarily exist here, and if it does, it may be priced differently — retailers set prices per delivery territory rather than per state.

Nothing carries over automatically. Treat the move as a fresh comparison rather than a transfer, and compare on the projected annual cost so the different delivery charges are already inside the number.
